| Titans go for another
Championship Ring!! |
|
|
Phoenix Arizona, April 29, 2009: The Tri-City Titans go for
back to back championships in the Arizona Semi Professional Copper
Football League 2009, their opponent The Glendale Rangers. The
Tri-City Titans defeated the Phoenix Outlaws on the 25th 7-6 in a
heavy weight bout that unfortunately for the Outlaws took a turn
down Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood. That’s Anthony
Robinson outside linebacker for the Tri-City Titans. Robinson
recorded 5 solos, one sack and an interception to put the dagger
in the Outlaws.
The Rangers had little trouble with their semi final foe the
Tempe Rams defeating them 24-7. Champions do what it takes to win
and the Titans proved that in response to the first punch thrown
by the Outlaws. The Glendale Rangers held the Rams to 138 yards of
total offense. That effort will be needed to stop the Titans who
held the Rangers for even less yards in their last meeting. The
Last match between these two teams was highly touted and filled
with comments from the players and fans and practically filled the
stands. The Titans hope to have a large contingency from the
Yavapai County whom they represent in this statewide and
nationally recognized league. The Titans are currently ranked 3rd
in the nation among semi-professional football teams.
The Titans were careful not to reveal too much during the regular
season as the onion was peeled and a layer was shown each game.
The season and this game particularly is devoted to number 99 Big
Ben Mims the ever friendly, other than on the field nose guard who
passed away just over a week ago from injuries related to a
rollover accident.
With a heavy heart and with heavy hits the Tri-City Titans look to
bring another championship ring to the, till now over looked proud
Tri-City area. Game time is this Saturday 7:00pm at Moon Valley
High school on the immaculately manicured field donated by the
NFL. Tickets are $5.00 at the door and well worth every penny.

| 62 - 12 equals 8-0 record for the Tri City Titans!! |
|
|
Phoenix Arizona, March 21, 2009: It was Titan Time all the time for the geographical rivals the Northern Arizona Coyotes as the Tri City Titans move to 8-0 in the Arizona Copper Football League semi professional football league at their first home game in Prescott.
The score did not reflect the tremendous effort by the feisty Coyotes, but against the best defense in the state it was hard to keep the effort consistent. The Tri City Titan offense worked out a few kinks and compiled a 344 yard effort. Tommy (Gun) Ziegler went 12 for 20 and 180 yards with two tosses for touchdowns to Zeb Curry and standby target tight end Michael Walker.WR Ben Ball padded his stats with five snags for 68 yards.
Tri City Titan rushing tandem Robert Jones and Myron McGruder scored two rushing touchdowns apiece with Michael Taylor getting his turn with a rushing score and extra point on his series at tailback in the fourth quarter.
The Titan defense also added to their scoring statistics with an early blocked extra point picked up by Kyle Hoffman who raced into the Coyote end zone for two points, however it was the ever present Ronnie Tate playing more like a tight end than a defensive end taking two interceptions in for scores. Stacey Ellis led all tacklers with six and one fumble recovery.
Like layers of an onion the Tri City Titans reveal another layer of their arsenal each week and now go back to the drawing board to prepare for the Arizona Thunder next Saturday at Moon Valley High school who as every other opponent will be giving their best effort to topple the Titans. “We take no one for granted and play at the highest level with those who choose to take the field against us” says head coach and defensive coordinator Doug Modoski.
The Tri-City Titans keep an open invitation to fans or teams in the northern Arizona area that want to see semi-professional football played at its best. Look to
www.copperfootball.com for schedules and times for all games.

| Tri City Titans whip Rangers 25-0 prepare for homecoming!! |
|
|
Phoenix Arizona, March 14, 2009: The Tri City Titans are now
7-0 and hold sole possession of the number one spot in the Copper
Football League. In a game that celebrated the true spirit of the
game of semi-professional football, two undefeated teams squared
off in what can only be described as a classic grudge match.
Although the internet provided a platform for the Rangers it was
apparent by the score that the Titans were a little more
traditional in their approach to the game.
The Titans were injected with extra fire power with the return to
their family of Anthony Robinson, Myron McGruder, and Breon Felix
from IR. The Rangers run a classic Wing – T offense, of which
Head Coach Doug Madoski and his staff prepared well for tallying
two safeties in each half, one interception by Jay Mack for 69
yards for a score and a fumble recovery for a score by defensive
stand out Ronnie Tate.
Titans Anthony Robinson and defensive back Kyle Hoffman recorded
four solos apiece with Robinson adding a sack to his total. The
Tri-City Titans struck early with a touchdown run by McGruder to
follow the first safety during the first quarter. Titans QB Tommy
(gun) Ziegler was 15 out of 25 passes for 156 yards as the rushing
combo of Jones and McGruder had their usual day at the office. Ben
Ball led all receivers with 60 yards.
The Titans won with class and with poise and will return to the
Tri-City area with anticipation. Prescott High School will be the
site on March 21st against Northern Arizona rivals the Coyotes
from the Verde Valley. Tickets for adults will be five dollars
with a dollar off for and canned food donation to the Yavapai
County Food Bank. Kick-Off is scheduled for 1pm. Fans are
encouraged to come early to meet the players.

|
|
Phoenix Arizona, March 7, 2009: The Tri City Titans move to 6-0 with a 20-6 victory over the Globe Miami Sting in Copper Football League. On a day when league owner Adam Richman presented the 2008 Copper Football League champion Titans their rings, the Sting quarterbacks also were hearing ringing in their ears with the crushing hits from the Titan defense.
Led by sack master Lee Haywood with two body slams and five solo tackles the defense rose to the occasion for the sixth game in a row, but it was the defensive backs that were in rare form with five interceptions.
Tri-City Titans quarterback Tommy (Gun) Ziegler was 15-27 for 182 yards passing distributing the ball between 5 different receivers with Ben Ball leading all receivers with four snags for a 12 yard per catch average. The Titans opened the first quarter with a touchdown run by Robert Jones. The Sting answered the score in the second quarter with a 5 yard interception only to have the Tri City Titans returning fire with two scores of their own in that quarter. The half time score was the final score with both teams scoreless in the second half.

| Tri-City Titans Move to 4-0 as the Peoria Patriots find it hard to keep up with the Jones |
|
|
February 21 2009: Phoenix Arizona, February 21, 2009: In a not so patriotic fashion the Tri-City Titans defeat the now 3-2 Peoria Patriots in a classic Copper Football League match up 20-14. The early morning duel started with a 30yard strike for a TD by the Patriots with just two minutes into the first quarter. The Titans answered back with a score of their own on a Breon Felix sprint to pay dirt of 25 yards, making the score 7-7 by the end of the quarter.
Local standout Robert Jones ran for near the century mark with a 90 plus day between the tackles and two hard earned rushing touchdowns, one in each half. The offensive line left gaping holes for the Titan backs to run to daylight all afternoon.
The Patriots found the Titan defense living up to their reputation with negative rushing yards going into the fourth quarter. The Titans recorded three sacks as Jason Hatch, Lee Haywood and Clifford Mann each added to their stats. Key interceptions by Titan veteran Brian Krause and newcomer Lamont Jones each with a pick shut down two crucial drives by the Patriots.
The balanced attack included Tommy (Gun) Ziegler peppering the Patriot defensive backfield with 125 yards passing. The Titans take on the East Valley Mustangs next on February 28th.
